Creation
Lagwar was founded in the Spring of 2008 by a group of gamers from Tactical Gamer, Team Warfare League (TWL League), and the World Series of Video Games. Earlier iterations of the site were launched in 2007 under a different name. The site was originally built around the idea of hosting a Guild and Clan Spotlight in order to give online gamers recognition for their in-game achievements. The site was eventually fully taken over by it’s current management lineup in Fall of 2008.
That Fall the group obtained a large interest in the what at the time was, soon-to-be-released Warhammer Online MMORPG and discussed the title in detail on an episode of the Lagwar.com podcast. Shortly after, Brilen and Ziss began hosting their own weekly WAR podcast called, Stonetroll Certified, taken from the name of the Lagwar.com episode where they had previously discussed the MMORPG.
Lagwar has since expanded tremendously, releasing additional weekly podcasts like the Fraggin’ Podcast, a weekly Computer Technology show focusing mainly on PC gaming hardware/software and MMO Weakly, a show hosted by Sarc from Lagwar and his partner in gaming Raim, covering the MMORPG industry.
Besides the ever expanding collection of podcasts, Lagwar has also grown an extensive publishing and creative writing team. Here you can find articles containing reviews, guides, industry news, and commentaries all revolving around the world of PC gaming and PC gaming hardware. As of late, this has been one of the main areas of focus for the content management team. The site also secured funding to boost it’s editorials and publishing along with public gaming servers, tournaments, etc. The editorial side of Lagwar will continue to expand, offering informative guides, reviews, and commentaries that any player seeking information will find useful on the topics covered.
Staff
Besides hiring additional podcast hosts, Lagwar has also hired volunteer and paid staff writers to create a new avenue for the site to deliver industry news, reviews, guides, and commentaries. The site is currently ran by a team made up of about 10 volunteer and paid staff members. Our goal is to double that number early in 2010 by bringing in server admins, news writers for tournaments, and community managers.
Podcasts
As of this writing, Lagwar offers thirteen podcasts each month covering PC gaming and technology.

Projects
Lagwar’s newest projects entail hosting tournaments and launching multiple public gaming and voice servers. The tournament to be held will be for Stardock’s strategy RTS and spiritual DotA successor, Demigod. These will be recurring tournaments and we look to host tournaments for other games in 2010. Cash, hardware, and other prizes will be given to winners and other select prizes will be given at random to participants who enter.
The first of the public gaming servers are scheduled to launch in September of 2009. Some of the game servers to be hosted are Left4Dead and Team Fortress 2. In preparation Lagwar has already launched it’s first public Ventrilo server to test the waters and give the community an idea of what’s to come.
Various other projects are in development, one of which is the idea of a total site rehaul to offer the Lagwar community social networking features in a video gaming context. More information will be released as it comes.
Reviews
Lagwar has also begun reviewing various PC gaming hardware and accessories. Some of examples of items we have received and reviewed previously include Bigfoot Networks’ Killer Network Interface Cards, Dell XPS laptops, and SteelSeries gaming mice and accessories.
