MMO Developer Awards – Vote Now!

LAGWAR.com is pleased to announce that we have partnered with the LFG Expo and are hosting nomination voting for the MMO Developer Awards on our brand spanking new forum! LAGWAR visitors can visit our new forum at http://lagwar.com/forum, register, and vote for their favorite MMOs in several different categories.

Through our partnership with the Looking For Group Expo and the launch of the official LAGWAR forum, members are now able to submit nominations for the MMO Developer Awards. The top 5 games with the most votes across all voting locations will go in front of the LFGX awards committee and the winners will receive their MDA at the VIP red-carpet award show at LFGX on June 26th in Minneapolis, MN.

This is YOUR chance to vote for the nominees in each of 10 categories. The following will describe the category and what you should think about when choosing what game you feel should win that award. Voting begins March 8th and will remain open through April 30th.

Award Categories:

MMO of the Year

One MMO has stood above the rest this past year and this MDA will honor the creative minds behind it. Players should think about all aspects of the MMO they believe deserves this award. Key points for consideration of this award are:

    · Exceptional creativity in artistic, sound, and game design.
    · Superior originality in all aspects of the game.
    · Immersive content, story and quests.
    · Replay ability.
    · Overall excellence in all areas.


Best Game Design

The game chosen for Best Game Design will have a game design that helps reinvent and progress how MMOs are created and designed. Players should think about the following key points when deciding on which game to choose for this MDA:

    · Creative and entertaining game design.
    · Replay ability of the game.
    · Economic systems.
    · Questing System.
    · Immersion through storylines.

Best Artistic Design

The game chosen for Best Artistic Design will have a captivating, emotional, stylistic vision in artistic design. Players should think about the following key points when deciding on which game to choose for this MDA:

    · Superior creativity and originality in characters.
    · Captivating world design.
    · Complex, visually stunning special effects.
    · User interface design.
    · Overall visual appeal.

Outstanding New Content

Outstanding New Content is awarded to MMOs with a significant content update or expansion pack released between March 1, 2009 and March 8, 201. Please be sure to choose a game that fits this qualification or votes for it will not count. This MDA will be awarded to the MMO whose patch or expansion pack adds significant value to the game through audio, visual, game design, playability, and creativity.

Best Sound Design

Best Sound Design is awarded to the MMO which exhibits creative and entertaining sound design. The sound design should help immerse the player in the game world emotionally and aesthetically. Key points for consideration of this award are:

    · Musical score.
    · Sound effects.
    · General sound design.
    · Creative direction.
    · Emotional Immersion.

Best Cinematic

Best Cinematic is awarded to the MMO with an incredible and visually stunning cinematic. Think of the trailer, cinematic or cut scene that created a feeling of excitement and awe while you were watching it.
Please choose a game from the following list of MMOs that you feel best fits the above qualifications.

Best Costume Design

Clothing and costumes in an MMO help with the visual style and immersion, contributing to the overall artistic design of the game. Best Costume Design is awarded to the game which exhibits exceptional costume design. Players should think about costumes and clothing that are original, creative and visually stunning.

Independent MMO of the Year

This award is the Independent version of MMO of the Year and is awarded to a game built by an individual or team of independents. Independent for the purposes of this award is defined as having full creative control over your product, and having a paid team of no more than 10 and an unpaid team of no more than 15. Players should think about all aspects of the MMO they believe deserves this award. Key points for consideration of this award are:

    · Exceptional creativity in artistic, sound, and game design.
    · Superior originality in all aspects of the game.
    · Immersive content, story and quests.
    · Replay ability.
    · Overall excellence in all areas.

Best Web Comic

This MDA is awarded for outstanding style, design, content and direction of a web comic based on an MMO or the MMO field.

Best Offline Game

This MDA is awarded for outstanding style, design, content and artistic direction of an offline game based on an MMO. This category includes card games, board games, and pen & paper games.
