First, a pet peave:

I hate it when you almost complete a public quest, and suddenly on the last stage someone decides to “help”. Last night was one of those occasions. I had almost completed a PQ by myself, when a Witch Hunter appeared next to me and fancied himself to take the last hit of health off the champ. I still got a bag for my efforts, but it pisses me off that…somehow…he got a higher roll than me. Go figure.

Other than the little aggrivation, last night was a blast. I decided to continue my plan to grind out Public Quests for influence while taking scenario pop’s as they came. I went to the Badlands (Dwarf chapter 13) and found the easy PQ. I love Easy PQ’s. As a tank I can actually solo the easy ones as long as the mobs aren’t more than a couple levels above me.

I actually had a revelation regarding the upcoming changes to the healing classes while doing this. I was listening to the Warhammer Alliance podcast number 8 wherein they discussed the new Archmage and Shaman mastery paths. One path would be strictly for healing, one for damage, and one a fence walk of the two. I previously would agree to anyone who said if you roll a healing class…you should be HEALING. But, the PQ soloing raised a question: how well can a healer solo a mob in PvE? Sometimes you don’t have people to group with, and I’ve heard many people who play healing classes gripe about how long it takes to kill one mob. Maybe this is the answer: give healers a path that would aid them in the walk to 40, but once there…what healing class would stick with a damage spec? People will make fun of them more than people would make fun of a Tinkerer specced Engineer. In the end, I hope the middle of the road mastery is worthwhile (this is, IMO, what the AM/SM should be all about), and the healing spec gives them ample healing. But I don’t see a problem in letting them put the hurt on some folks.

After my little thought bubble intermission, my little Engineer buddy Grundagar wanted to join me. We burned through most of the PQ and eventually got a scenario pop for the Lost Temple of Isha. Yay, one of my favorites! It was one of the best back and forth fights I’ve ever had in WAR. I think both sides captured the objective twice in the 15 minutes of the scenario. We ended up losing the objective with just a couple minutes left but were ahead by just enough to make us victorious (by like 10 points).

After the Isha scenario, I popped back into the PQ area to find the Engineer dead. He doesn’t last long against mobs 5 levels above him. Poor guy. Even worse is that he died twice trying to get back to the PQ after we were near its completion. Unfortunately there was a small group that came and finished it up and got most of the credit, rendering us with no bags of joy. Soon after though, we had the option to play in the Doomfist Crater scenario. As I stated to Grundagar, I love Doomfist Crater…I just never win. But last night was different. We ended up obliterating destruction in the round and won 500 to 57. I love it when a plan comes together.
