Most of you guys surely have had some spam in your inbox, both in WAR and your e-mail.
Last time I logged on to my Warrior priest, I was happy. I had 15 new messages in my postbox.
But sadly, it was all gold seller spam.
And while I was cursing to the Gods about the gold-sellers, I got a tell about a fantastic site that sold gold for fantastic low prices and instant delivery.
With the new fortress system, I can see that it might pose a problem with Mythic and GOA’s anti-gold seller policy.
There is also a new problem posing for us players, while searching on the net for gold selling sites, I found this site who gave me and you as players the chance to sell unwanted gold for a little buck.
All you had to do was register on that site, your server, faction and the amount of gold you want to sell.
And so I looked at my spam in my postbox again. There was only one mail from a random name like asdafeds, the rest was from players. Some of them were online while I was on.
And so it seems a new era of gold selling has begun. Where the gold farming bots have been replaced with normal players who want to sell some gold and earn some money on there gaming time.
Under the trial rush, I heard someone bragging about how he spent thousands of gold getting his trading skills to grandmaster. So I asked him what char he did that on, and of course the standard, I have a couple of lvl 40 chars, but just decided to make a new alt under the trial rush. Some of you might wonder what I did in T1 under the trial rush, and I will tell you. I was there bothering my brother-in-law while he was doing PQ’s. So of course me as a mid t4 player started to argue with the guy. And again gold sellers became the topic. I tried to tell the guy that WAR does not have the same economics as WoW, but he was persistent and was heavily arguing that Mythic made a game where you need gold selling to survive. I do not want to sound like a bastard, so I want you readers to either mail me your opinions at heike@lagwar.com, or leave a comment in the thread below telling your thoughts on this.
And for the record, as stated in Mythic and GOA’s EULA, gold selling and gold buying is illegal!

The only factor that makes gold selling even slightly viable is the Auctionhouse. We don’t need it for anything else. Mounts are cheap. Abilities are cheap. Claiming keeps is cheap. Gold from mob drops is more than abundant. Crafting is nowhere near as expensive as prices make it out to be.
If they made the cap on items in the AH lower, and variable per size of the stack, they could cut out a need for it all. I.E. 100g for armor/weapons/jewelry, 100g variable for crafting stacks

I think you’re on to something there Grimnir, if it weren’t for some of the ridiculous AH prices, players would have nothing making them feel the need to buy gold, or from my point of view anyway. I think Mythic has done well with keeping the insane gold need down, which makes me glad. I never want to go through another “Great Depression of ‘06″ like we had in WoW haha.

Grimnir kind of brings out my whiny point into a short post.
I figured if Mythic took a rely drastic step, you could lower the gold-selling even more.
and that is to put a value limit on things in AH. I might sound like a Nazi thing to do, but i feel that it might be a necessity for a while so people will get used with the economic system in WAR.
