Why on earth did some scientist find out that a single day has 24 hours?
Since I lost my job, I have spent more time playing MMO’s and heavy storyline singleplayer games. And due to my fiance, it has come to my attention that the day only contains 24 hours. Thus giving me quite a dilemma.
What should I play?
WAR and EVE, the two games I pay for, or should I quit them and play some free ones I find highly amusing and fun to play. (I shall never quit WAR as a little side notice, I love the game. And I am such hardcore fan of the Warhammer Universe, that I could not bring myself to quit it even if I wanted to)
So I’m proudly to present:
Heikes MMO list of games that MIGHT be worth taking a look at.
First Game I want to say a few words about is of course Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.
I am not even sure wHat to say about this game anymore. Even with my mixed feelings of Love/Hate, I still play it. The game itself is a good MMO based around RvR, and therefore I started to play with expectations not too high on the story. But, after getting my Warrior Priest up to the mid 30’s, I must admit I feel amused by the plot line given to you through quests. At the same time, I am also stuck with the grind feeling. And if you can see past the bugs with potions sellable to vendors for 85k gold (link to my Xfire profile with pic: Bug potion) and Sarc’s giant Mast that Mythic took away. When I first saw the potion I really hoped that it was Mythic’s way of removing the need for gold-sellers forever, but I was sadly ****ing mistaken. This is really a game I want everyone to at least buy and try out. Even with its bugs and flaws, it is a most enjoyable game. (As long as you don’t get struck by the bug of no leaving, that one sucks)
Next game on my list is a free Horror MMORPG named, Requiem Bloodymare (If your under 18 skip this part, thank you)
I am a big fan of horror splatter movies. For ages I was afraid it was only FPS games like SoF and Blood that could still my overextending need for fear and blood. But one day an angel shined light over my spam box. In middle of all the usual “fReE ViAgRa” to “green card Lottery US” junk, there was a beta invitation for a new MMO called: Requiem Bloodymare. I transferred the mail to my inbox, it lay there for about a month or something like that. At my semi-annual inbox cleanup I read the mail, and I fell in love. Two registration attempts, and a GM ticket later, I started the game.
My first character, and a annoying code system later I found myself in a beautiful world filled with ugly, mutated creatures. And of course the standard trial and error with buttons began. 30 mins later, I was well familiar with all Interface functions, and buttons. Time for first kill. My char walked over to the closest four legged one armed monster and started slashing. I was still not impressed with the game. Then…the kill. The arm and the head of the monster flew in each direction, while the rest of the body shattered into unknown small parts. And the amount of blood! I praised the game makers so loudly I woke my fiance up. But the game is not flawless. I took a speed trial to see how fast i could get a new char up to level 10, the first job choice level. With my brother-in-law as my witness it did not take me more then 35 mins. From start to first job transfer took 35 mins. most of the time was due to traveling. There is a lot of walking in the game. And I still cant get anyone to give me a proper answer to when you get a mount, and where. But it is a game to check out if your over 18, or 17 (depends on where in the world you are). So check out Requiem: Bloodymare
Shall we continue? I will only take one more game this time.
But first something totally besides my opinion of Runes of Magic, do any of you know how hard it is for a short person like me (I’m 1.63cm) to change light bulbs on a roof that’s 2.20 without something, not even a chair to stand on? I’m just glad my macho computer didn’t break down while I stood on it.
Back to the point: Runes of Magic!
After listening to “some” (real identity shall remain hidden. There you see little brother, youe safe now) people talk to me about how cool this game was. After some digging I found out that “someone” was out of game time on WoW (Aint mum a cheapskate bro? Your still safe, no ones gonna know you linked me RoM) and needed something besides illegal “freeservers” to play. So I created myself a account and downloaded the game. After some good o’l patching, the game was ready to launch. I started up, and boff. The WoW rippof of the ages hit my face. After 30 mins of play, I understood that the games may look similar, but RoM feels completely different to play (Dont flame me Sarc, Im no number cruncher like you. I have to trust my gut, and my feelings), so after a little while I started to feel comfy in RoM. The game has hit a fine line between an annoying long time to level up and too fast to level up. But the major drawback as I see it, is when you go to the AH, most items you find that are useful people will charge insane sums of diamonds. Like a level 41 epic costs 30 diamonds. Well, I dont have money to buy dimonds, so thats out of the question for me. And I have still to find someone who sells diamonds on the AH. So in my opinion, if your tired of WoW, but dont want to change it all out this might be the game for you.
So check it out on Runes of Magic
So, this concludes the first of possible 3 posts. I really want response on what you people think, and if you know of a MMO thats either free-to-play, or a decent trial, dont hesitate to mail the site to me at heike@lagwar.com and I will try it out. And you might see your game in the next post.
So good luck finding those MMO’s and dont forget to mail em in to me or leave a comment in the thread below!
I will be back to bother you all again in the not too distant future.

haha,”(I’m 1.63cm)” i think you need to drop the c ;P
I feel… similarly about RoM, its very WoW clone-ish, but has some standalone character. I’m actually working on a podcast about it, just waiting for a friend of a friend to send me some music samples and then i’ll get it out to some level of production.
Requiem bloodymare sounds interesting. is it still in closed beta?
