It’s hitting the fan…

Winds of change is creating quite the uproar in the Warhammer community and I can’t say I blame anyone a little peeved at the situation. Grimnir from Grimnir’s Grudge informed me that they removed it from the game (at least for now), which is probably a good thing.

This, as I see it, is the second huge band-aid fix that Mythic has implemented since release. Sure, theres been the little bug fixes over time, but not like Winds of Change and the good ol’ fortress cap. I’ve been riding the fence on Mythics bug fix implementation for a while, and its beginning to hurt my ass. On the one side, something needs to happen. Now that I’m in Tier 4, I’m just beginning to experience the massive problems there is in the “end game” and it sucks. I place “end game” in quotes because i’m starting to believe that the true end game is tiers 1-3 because after anyone plays Tier 4, they wish they were back at the beginning.

I see from Mythics stance that the economy isnt great, they seem to be working with a lighter crew than they need, and maybe they are on such a budget that getting new equipment really isnt an option. So you are forced to come up with new ideas to fix these fundamental issues. I’m no coder, but it seems to me that fixing huge problems really aren’t going to be solved through adding more code to an already overworked system. (Im sure any programmer loves when someone starts off a sentence with “Im no coder”, its like when people say to me, “Im no pornstar, but…”) Only thing that keeps pecking at my head though; what happened to all the old servers that were closed up? Can you not instance the forts and keeps off to a separate server (like a scenario)? Daisy chain those suckers!

I’ll end with this; I don’t like the idea, at all. When the fortress caps came into play I was quite unhappy. Mythic said this was a “temporary fix”. Most people seemed fine with it then because the problems were so bad that it made the end game near unplayable….just like it is months later. This is screaming to the community “we cant make this game any more playable”. A lot of people are letting their subscriptions run out and calling it quits. When you have big community members like Regis do it…you know theres a problem.

I’m still going until the Land of the Dead arrives. If it creates a viable end game for WAR, Im staying. Otherwise… there’s a lot of MMO’s coming down the pipe.

No WCPI moment for the day, would rather not link someone from such a bummer subject.

You’ve taken the journey we all have.
Now that you’re in T4, your only options are to endlessly roll alts (thus avoiding the end-game) or quitting altogether.
