LAGWAR | GAMING'S BEST IN TOP NOTCH MEDIOCRITY

I’ve never been much of a talker on forums of any kind. From old school internet walls and boards to the over saturation of video game related forums, I’ve remained in the background and watched. But I’ve even kept my scanning of forum topics and threads to a minimum strictly because of the nonsense and derogatory comments posters are compelled to make at any poster who even remotely let their guard down while writing their post. It’s probably the most annoying thing about the internet, for me anyway. Actually, I can say with confidence that if I could change one thing about the internet, there would somehow be a filter to block the power happy drones and trolls that seem to plague forums all across the net.

Recently, due to the work I do for sites like Lagwar.com and others, I have been stepping outside of my comfort zone only to be disappointed more than ever. Even the simplest of posts will have an almost immediate reply by some no-brain jackass. And yes, I’m fully aware that this post alone is just begging for flames from this army of internet dweebs who’s sole purpose in life is to make others miserable. Oh well.

There are plenty of people out there who share my feelings and actions when approaching a forum. People who will float in from time to time just to see what the latest buzz is in a particular game, or check out some computer hardware forums to find information on a particular topic. But, we simply cannot participate nor enjoy hanging out on the forums on a regular basis due to the plain stupidity that will follow if we were to create even the simplest of thread.

I’ve seen posts where a player was leaving a game and decided to give away their in-game currency and items. Even these types of posts are followed by responses bashing the player’s act of kindness and attacking their integrity. But the trolls love it. And if one of “their kind” is reading this post right now, their self esteem and determination is only growing.

Where do these people come from? Are they people? Or are they some mutated breed of alien race tapping into our systems and using this bizarre type of mental warfare against our unsuspecting and helpless posters in order to drain their willpower and keep it for themselves?

So tell me, where do they come from and what is it in their head that forces them to be this way? I gotta know. It’d make a great reality show.
