I’ve been waiting patiently in the shadows outside of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning planning my attack. I have been patiently waiting for something to come out to entice me to come back and overall change the feel the game left from when I last played in February.
My time has finally come, thanks to the release of the new patch bringing forth Land of the Dead I just couldn’t resist the temptation to try it out myself. So as of the first of July I have gone back to Waaghing so to speak and it feels great to be back punting stunties.
Although the drawback to my return is the fact that I have not yet attained a level high enough on any of my characters in order to access the new content. However, due to the large amounts of praise I have been hearing about LoTD I have been motivated to actually level up my characters and to seek out contact with other players instead of waiting for it to come to me.
That was the problem I had with the game when I left it the other times, I felt that there wasn’t enough communication with other players in the game to actually make me feel like I was playing with anyone else. The game just felt barren and my thirst for PvE content back then didn’t help much either. Well, during the past few days that I’ve been back, and playing for hours on end, I realized that the major reason why I had no one to talk to was mostly all my fault.
People whine and complain that there’s never any ORvR action and that they can never find a warband. I use to act the same way during my previous attempts with the game, I would log on and look through the open group list see that no one had a warband running and log out complaining that the game was boring. However, now I’m almost 70% sure that there is a warband running around somewhere, it just needs to be found or made. So no matter what the current time is or where you are, I’m almost positive that if there isn’t currently a warband running you can just create your own open group with RvR intentions and people will surely join and you can go cap some battle objectives.
Oddly enough, seeing that I’m usually a PvE whore, since I’ve gone back to Waaghing I have not yet felt the need to go into any PvE content. Instead I choose to waste money flying around between different zones with a group of blood hungry individuals looking for order’s skulls to bash in, and it’s been absolutely fantastic. There’s something extremely gratifying about completely demolishing some other player in PvP content that you cannot get from fighting a mindless mob.
That being said I never really enjoyed the PvE in WAR. Mostly due to the lack of challenge in Public Quests and the large drop of point of people actually doing PQ’s once they figured out that you could get so much more experience and rewards from doing RvR.
With all that being said, and my ramblings needing to come to a stop. I have come to enjoy Warhammer once more, probably more then when I first started the game, and I really hope that my new found love will last.
I guess a four month break and a new patch release really can get you a different tune out of an old trombone, and how sweet it sounds.
Only six more levels to go in order to dismember undead,
