We are pleased to announce that Lagwar.com will be hosting it’s very first Demigod tournament in the upcoming weeks. Cash, hardware, and other prizes will be given away. All entries will also be included in drawings for other giveaways . Right now we are working on the logistics of the tournament and we need your help. Let us know what rules and formats you would like to see in the tournament. You can leave your feedback in the comments thread below OR you can email them to tournaments@lagwar.com.
If the response is good we plan on making this a recurring event. We will be pushing the event details throughout the community over the next couple of weeks in hopes of gathering as much player feedback as possible and to make the Demigod community aware of this potentially recurring series.
Official tournament sign-up instructions will be posted soon along with the rules and prize details. So if you currently do not have a team, make one!
This is a great opportunity to play against other practiced Demigod teams as well as entry-level. So if your team is looking to show the Demigod community what you’ve got, be sure to give us your feedback and register for the tournament when registration has opened.
If you haven’t played Demigod yet, you’re missing out on a fantastic game. You can read Sarc’s Demigod review here. You buy the game online at Stardock’s official Demigod website.
Here are a few of the tournament details that we are tossing around but may change:
-
*Ideal team size = 2v2 or 3v3 (possibly 5v5 if enough interest is shown)
*Conquest (kill the other team’s base format)
*No more than 2 copies of a single demigod on a team, but any combination of Light and Darkness is acceptable
*Players may change their demigod in between games,
*Best-out-of-three format
*Tournament size = 16 to 32 teams
*Dates = TBD for month of September 2009
*No entry-fee
Let us know your thoughts on them and your suggestions on what you would like to see in our Demigod Tournament in the comments thread below or email them to tournaments@lagwar.com.

Great suggestion.

I would like to see 3v3 cataract-only with favor enabled. This is the format I play for the majority of the “pro-only” games.
It takes very little playtime to get the few favor items needed to compete (took me 5 hours), so anyone playing on a competitive level will have no problem with them.
Doubles aren’t unbalanced, but it has become something of a tradition. I wouldn’t mind allowing them as I’m sure they would lose to a more balanced team.
Finally, Leviathan or Ziggurat are excellent maps for 4v4.

This tournament should not allow doubles. I can say that double reg sniping with double Heavens Wrath is extrememly annoying. Anyway thats my only problem.

I’m leaning towards no doubles myself. Will definitely update on this in the next day or two.
Registration info to be posted soon as well. Just finishing up the last of the sponsor slots.

NO AI. At least from the beginning of the game. Have been stuck with 2 AI players vs 3 human players and it is an automatic loss every time! AI will die within the first 2-3mins and spends no $ on upgrades. If someone leaves fine give control to AI but the start of the match should be reserves to players!
