Organization
- 2v2 and 3v3 tourney to be held on separate weeks.
- Tournament rounds will be held on weeknights with the first game of the round starting no earlier than 7pm EST. Set your Tivo’s/DVR’s up now!
- For each 10 minute period that a game lobby waits for a player to be ready to start the game (showing up or just clicking ready) a loss will be attributed to the deficient team. After waiting for 5 minutes, this must be reported to a Lagwar representative for verification at 10 minutes.
- For each round, players will receive the game start time, the game name, the password for their game, and which player is selected to host the game in an email. If the selected host knows they will be unable to host, they need to respond to the email ASAP to alert the tournament coordinator, responding with fewer than 24 hours before the tournament will result in a penalty.
- All teams must use a VoIP system, Lagwar will have our Ventrilo server(s) available for this, but any alternative is acceptable. This requirement is to give all teams an even footing for communication.
- Lagwar representatives will be in the Lagwar Ventrilo Server during each round to deal with any problems/issues/forfeitures.
- The game host must notify the tournament coordinator when the best of 3 rounds is decided so that the result may be verified using the Stardock reporting system. All participants are advised to take screenshots to dispute any inaccuracies in reporting by the Stardock system.
- Disconnects do not convey any sort of re-do, do-over, or mercy.

You have given here a nice information for “Demigod Tournament”. There have been good prizes for 1st place team. Its a nice tournament to take part in it and your information helps for it.

Here’s a nice quick question….
Couldn’t find it in the info but, will this tournament be for USA players only?
Being from outside the US, that would be disappointing.

im pretty sure we decided on U.S. only due to latency reasons, but i will need to verify that. will post a comment stating the final word and will include it in the tournament details as well.
my apologies for leaving that out. will clarify shortly. thanks!

Hey Silverdust,
The ruling will be based on pings to a North American Host.
If a registering team is from outside North America, i will set up a time and a custom game for you to join where your ping will be recorded. All team members will be checked and anything under 300 is acceptable. 300-350 is questionable and we will have to play through a game to see how it goes. Over 350 will mean that you are not eligible for the first tournament.
If the tournament is overwhelmingly popular and/or we disqualify many non-North American teams based on Ping, Lagwar’s future tournaments will cater to Europe/AU/wherever has the best population of sub-par pings.

Thank you both for the fast replies.
The question came to mind, indeed cause of the ping. Also i think it’s reasonable
to check eligibility first through a costum game.
So far it sounds great, please let me know more about that costum game.
Either way, you have my blessing to make this a great tournament. Both US and EU.

- Disconnects do not convey any sort of re-do, do-over, or mercy.
So this also means that if a player gets an error and his game crashes (which happens almost every match) it’s automatically game-over for his team?
(question isn’t meant hostile, just wondering)

Is there any estimate as to when the tournament will take place? Also, for those of us who work full-time jobs and live on the West Coast, will we be able to request preferred time-slots, or will we have to consider taking time off of work inorder to meet the EST times? Thanks for the answers, and I’m looking forward to the tournament!

Sacrificial_Soul,
Right now we’re looking at the end of September to first weeks of October.
The tournament will take place over the course of two weeks. One for each format.
We’re trying to give as much time as possible to pick up any potential sponsors that haven’t had time to get with us yet so there are plenty of prizes to give to the community, while also leaving a couple weeks for registration and the match bracket draft.
We will be posting the official tournament dates within the next two weeks so keep an eye out. We will make a new post showing all of the registration details and instructions, rules, and prizes.
Thanks for the questions and I hope that helps to answer them. Please post if you have anymore.
Thanks to everyone who has posted and sent emails. The response has been great!

Are you going to allow the request of preferred time slots for those of us who need to work around our jobs? Again, thanks for the answers.
Posted on August 27th, 2009 at 11:54 am
Sarcrificial_Soul,
For time slots, we let the West coast players choose 4 potential times from a list the coordinators will supply for the match between the guidelines above (see Organization), and communicate those with your opposing team as well as the tournament coordinators for scheduling purposes.
The opposing team/coordinators will then choose the match time from one of the potential times that you sent them.
This will be explained in full-detail when the registration date is announced. Not sure if you’re familiar with it, but we will be adapting some of the same scheduling rules as the TWL league at TeamWarfare.com.
A few days before registration opens we will make a post explaining this is in full-detail as well as including all other questions we have had, and even include an FAQ.
I hope that helps to answer your question. If not, just post a comment!
Thank you!

@ Yuri77,
sorry for the delayed reply. It hasnt been my experience that people regularly crash out of games. I cant remember the last time i had that problem either for myself or for another person in the game.
So if your partner crashes, you can still play on. if you win, then thats all kosher. Its not an automatic loss, the rule is just there to prevent unnecessary delays. If your computer is having a conflict with demigod i recommend you browse the help forum (forums.demigodthegame.com) and get it fixed before the tourny!
Cheers

Going to launch a forum for the tournament this weekend to accommodate questions on rules, feedback, and players looking to coordinate practices and/or teams.
Will post the forum info this weekend.
Thanks to everyone who has submitted feedback/questions thus far!

Due to the huge amount of feedback from the community there will be no doubles allowed. Meaning you cannot use multiple of the same demigod on the same team.
Thank you to everyone who has given feedback so far and we hope that you continue to provide us with info as we wrap things up.
Thanks!

Honestly with the gray area pseudo-exploit of warping from the citadel across the gap I don’t think crucible is a good competitive map. I know it’s boring, but I think there’s a good reason why ESL uses Cataract for 2v2 as well as 3v3. :/
Posted on September 18th, 2009 at 1:21 am
Can a single person enter both the 2v2 and the 3v3?
