So you are minding your own business in the desert when a camper you rescue walks up and chats with you. “Dominion … thanks so much for rescuing me. I know of three scientists that were kidnapped and you need to rescue them!”
When you accept the mission, you are placed on a timer (note the 24:22 time stamp) and given a location on the map in which you are playing. This provides some random questing opportunities, and expands the game’s depth and long term play value.
The game could use more randomized, repeatable content as it helps fill in the gaps when you run into a barren quest area and not sure of what to do next. Hopefully, there will be some more randomized mission encounters akin to the old Star Wars Galaxies mission terminals.
The nice thing about walkups is the opponents in the lairs (these are static and placed strategically around each map in terms of doors, cave entrances, and portals) are your level, so you can assure a 100+ xp per kill at level 29. I am not sure how that scales, but it helps place in context the fact the NPCs are balanced for your situation. Lucky for this scientist, I am saving him from evil aliens taking his brain!

I’m a huge fan of these types of quests! I love the more organic feel of questing in Champions, it add some real flavor to the title and helps it stand out for me, makes me feel like a hero for once. I talked about it on my blog too:

hmm. this is a really cool feature, i wonder how hard it is to integrate into other MMOs.
How often do these happen?? and since im not a champs player, can you translate how much exp you get from doing a quest like this to a rough % of your experience to level?
