LOL!

That reticule issue is a real pain in the ass.

I really hope they get that resolved very soon. Dammit, now I wish I had remembered to ask about that during last night's dev chat with Lee Hammock :(

I just listened to the first 20 minutes of this podcast on the way to work, and as soon as I heard your comments about crouching and the rifle reticle, I was all fired up for some epic nerd rage! For someone (like me) that plays exclusively in 3rd person, this is the biggest pain in the ass in the entire game.

Try sneaking around in tight corridors. The camera will zoom in to the back of your head and you cannot see a damn thing. Backing up against a wall in PvP is pretty much suicide, because all you can see is the back of your head! It's actually worse with pistols, because you can't switch to scoped view to "see around" yourself. It's also worse with male characters because they are taller and wider.

I've played lots of other games that don't suffer from this (Battlefield Heroes and Hellgate London to name just two off the top of my head), and it bugs the shit out of me that FE does it. In fact I pretty much gave up on my pistol character at level 22, because I got sick of looking at the back of his head, when I *really* needed to able to see... Sneaking around in a PvP zone with pistols is fine until you need to shoot at something, then you realize that you've been walking around with the reticle pointed at the floor, just so you can see over your head. As soon as you raise your guns to shoot, you get a lovely view of the back of you head!

I have actually submitted this as a bug, with the screenshot below. I am backed up against a wall in the Rest Stop Lifenet facility and there is a "Festering Rotter" in front of me. I had to wait until it raised its arm to attack just to prove it was there!

IMHO, the reticle is just too low in 3rd person mode. It needs to be raised slightly, so you can see over your character when crouched or backed up against a wall.

As I said earlier, I haven't listened to the rest of the podcast yet, but I just had to say something! I thought I was the only one that was getting irritated by this.
