Sometimes we get focused on the negative. We’re probably the worst of all gamer-types, if truth be told. We don’t just play MMOs, we make them a part of our lives; they become a hobby, and yes, in some cases, a kind of lifestyle. We develop connections to them, build relationships – and that makes... [Continue Reading]

Innovation. It’s the call that brings players back to roost. Nearly every major release has featured a community joyously proclaiming that their approach was the approach to re-enliven the industry. Look at how innovative!! This is the way ahead! Why haven’t we been doing this all along? In fairness, sometimes that’s pretty spot on. I’ve... [Continue Reading]

I don’t normally talk about other games here, because well, this is a WoW column and that just wouldn’t make sense. Occasionally in an article however, I will mention one game or another to make a point about WoW. Well this is another of those articles. The game: Vindictus. The point? There is a lot to do in Azeroth – and that’s a good thing. (There is your cliff-notes version – read below for expanded startling revelations!)

Raim: Bless me father for I have sinned.

Priest: (vaguely Italian accent) What have you done my son?

Raim: I have been unfaithful. I have broken the holy sacrament of game loyalty and have cheated...on World of Warcraft.

Priest: Think, my son, what caused you to commit this act?

Priest: This new game. What was her name?

Raim: Aion, father, her name was Aion...
