Wolfenstein Review

w1

Wolfenstein is a first person shooter developed by a collaboration of Raven Software, id Software, Pi Studios, and Endrant Studios. It is based in World War II Germany, but thanks to bizarre gameplay mechanics and story twists, the game is much more unique than just another WWII shooter. The Wolfenstein franchise is somewhat of a cornerstone for the FPS genre. My experience with the franchise prior to starting up this game consisted only of Return To Castle Wolfenstein, which is a game I … [Read more...]

Battlefield Heroes Review

bfh

Battlefield Heroes is a new third-person shooter developed by DICE. It's a free download supported by a micro-transaction system. The goal of these "free-to-play" games is to attract you with a free game and then allow you to purchase avatar items and upgrades for your character. Battlefunds is the currency used to 'rent' weapons and avatar items for a limited amount of time. You can buy these Battlefunds through PayPal and most credit cards are supported as well. You start off by creating … [Read more...]

Bioshock 2 Preview

bioshock2-bigdaddio

I'm pretty sure that mostly everyone who owns a computer and who play PC games pretty religiously have heard of Bioshock. If you have not heard of the game, or even played it, then I implore that you go out right now and purchase it - it's well worth the money -, hell it's even on steam if you're not ready to leave the cave quite yet. Bioshock may be a FPS but unlike most FPS it challenges your mind, there's no blatantly obvious path for you to follow littered with brains to dislodge from … [Read more...]

Quantity > Quality

nazi-zombie-thumb

What defines a zombie game as being good? What is it about the game that keeps you interested, and not just a boring grind-fest of shooting off heads? I personally found it to be the quantity of the zombies that you are up against, not necessarily the strength of the zombies, or the zombie's quality. I was presented with this small comparison the other day while visiting relatives at Easter, and just so happened to disappear into the basement and do nothing but play on my relative's … [Read more...]

The Cake. I Eats It.

pre-1

I started playing Portal over again today. Man, what a fun and unique game that is. Do you remember Portal? It got rave reviews and a bunch of "internet fad" style attention about a year+ ago when it was released along with the Orange Box (with Half Life 2 Episode 1&2, Team Fortress 2, etc). I ended up getting the Orange Box as a gift and to this day Portal is the only game from it that I've spent more than maybe 3 hours on. I've played through it 2.5x over the past year, since it is so … [Read more...]

Falling out of Fallout 3

Fallout 3 Crash error popup.

In my previous Christmas article I talked about how disappointed I was in Fallout 3. So now I am back again to bash on Bethesda's newest RPG, this time in more detail and anger. Now I know what most of you fanboys are thinking; "Wrewdinge, Fallout 3 is like the best game ever! How can you be shooting down something as awesomely amazing as this game?" Well I am going to tell you. I even have proof of my issues with the help of visual aid. Technical Issues Lets just go to a … [Read more...]

Living in Crysis

crysiswarheadbanner

"Living in Crysis" In November of 2007, PC gamers across the globe were sent into panic mode. Many who believed they owned a top-of-the-line gaming machine were stopped in their tracks by a little game called Crysis. Less than one year later Crytek has delivered yet another installment of the “nano-suit” chronicles titled, Crysis Warhead. Unlike the original Crysis, you play as the inappropriately named Sergeant “Psycho” Sykes. I say inappropriately named because Sergeant Sykes has too … [Read more...]
