There was a time in my life where I thought that when a laptop broke, that was it. You might as well run it through an ore crusher and harvest the gold and copper contacts out of it and recycle the plastic. In all honesty, laptops are stupid. Every single model of laptop is its own proprietary nightmare of specially fabricated plastic moldings, non-standardized cables, and really terribad build quality. However, it IS POSSIBLE to fix some problems in a laptop, that would otherwise make the … [Read more...]
The Cake. I Eats It.

I started playing Portal over again today. Man, what a fun and unique game that is. Do you remember Portal? It got rave reviews and a bunch of "internet fad" style attention about a year+ ago when it was released along with the Orange Box (with Half Life 2 Episode 1&2, Team Fortress 2, etc). I ended up getting the Orange Box as a gift and to this day Portal is the only game from it that I've spent more than maybe 3 hours on. I've played through it 2.5x over the past year, since it is so … [Read more...]
Mentality of a Raider

As promised, here is my post about the insane mentality behind "career" raiding. I don't mean actually getting some kind of job that pays you to raid (I don't think those exist), but taking raiding, be it in WoW, EQ2, or somewhere else, as seriously as most people take their careers. Let's start out defining "raids". A raid is, essentially, a LARGE group of players in any given game (typically consisting of 2 or more full "groups") that band together to tackle PVE (player vs … [Read more...]
I Raid, Therefore I Am
There are a lot of gamers out there that just don't understand the mentality of a person who plays WoW like its a job in order to conquer all of the end game content faster and better than everyone else. To me, end-game raiding has always been the goal of playing WoW. When I first started playing, all I ever heard about was how fun Molten Core and BWL were, and how much people were looking forward to the Ahn-Qiraj event and associated raids. I remember telling a friend who was complaining … [Read more...]
AMD vs Intel – The Never Ending Battle

It seems as if Intel and AMD have been battling for superiority in chip and processor design for as long as any of us can remember. Intel has always held the largest market share and been at the forefront of the competition, going as far as to use cunning business and legal action to stay one step ahead. On the other side of the fence, AMD has always had a significant and loyal following. While the other CPU manufacturing giant has never grown quite as large as its nemesis, it has almost … [Read more...]
The Final Pics – T8 Armor Sets

By now you're probably getting bored looking at the Tier 8 armor sets - I know I am - but there are four more that we havn't looked at, praised, criticized, or ripped apart yet, so I'm doing this final installation of the series. In previous weeks, we scrutinized the Priest, Paladin, and Druid Tier 8, and the Mage, Warlock, and Hunter Tier 8 armor sets. What is the point at looking at the armor sets to be released in the 3.1 WoW content patch? It's mostly just for fun. Without having all the … [Read more...]
More 3.1 Ulduar Armor Sets

I'm getting back to this subject a bit later than expected, but I suppose slightly late is better than never! This time we're going to be taking a look at the Warlock, Mage, and Hunter tier 8/8.5 armor sets that will be released in the upcoming patch, along with the Ulduar raid instance! Last week we took a look at the Priest, Druid, and Paladin Tier 8/8.5 armor sets (from an aesthetic point of view) and readers decided that of the three, Druid and Paladin were the worst, making Priest the … [Read more...]
WoW 3.1 New Items

Continuing on my theme and dedication to rounding up all available information on WoW 3.1, it is time to take a look at the new PHAT LEWTS and other fun gizmo's (that we are aware of, to date) being added to the game! Diving right in, the first thing a new patch and raid instance brings that people are just jumping out of their skin to get a glimpse at, is the new armor sets. You have to admit, WoW players are a vain bunch, and having all that amazingly cool looking gear is pretty high … [Read more...]
Ulduar – The A-Z of the New Raid Instance as We Now Know It

Blizzard has been giving us the tiniest of snippets with which to deduce an overall picture of what the new Ulduar raid instance will be about. After doing extensive research, lore lookups, reading through quest lines, and all that fun jazz, I've formed a basic image of what Ulduar is going to look like when it finally releases (which PTR testers claim probably won't be until April). Disclaimer: While this is based on known facts, the overall is still unconfirmed conjecture. Don't take my … [Read more...]
WoW Patch 3.1 Overview

It seems like it was just yesterday that I was rambling on about the 3.0.8 patch notes. Now here we are, with the first MAJOR content patch and release since Wrath of the Lich King launched. This bugger went up on PTR last week, and players are absolutely gushing. Some with joy, some... less enthused. As far as classes go, every single class in the game is getting a major overhaul. I'm going to be detailing these changes individually over the next few days, but surmise to say that no class is … [Read more...]
