Star Trek Online Social

Posted by Xavier Morgan March 1, 2010

In my last story, I criticized Cryptic for lack of tweets.  Turns out, I just couldn’t find them.  They were there!  They just ported it straight over from Champions!  Sorry Cryptic.  I will try to be a keen observer of neatly hidden features in future.  To access this, among other things such as your [...]

Vintage uniform choices immerse players

Posted by Xerb Painhunter February 24, 2010

Star Trek Online has been hard at work trying to put as much detail as they can into the game to make players feel fully immersed into this famous science fiction genre.  Additions such as vintage Star Trek uniforms are sure to make Trekkers around the world get excited.
Uniform options do not include the pants, [...]

Section 31 wants you!

There is news of a suspicious (and random) quest NPC roaming the halls of Deep Space 9.  What makes this NPC special is the rare, special episode (STO speak for quest) that becomes available to you if you meet certain requirements.  The rumor is that this suspicious character is a member of the secret Federation [...]

Star Trek Online sets World Record

Posted by Xerb Painhunter February 23, 2010

Namco Bandai Partners, the distributor of Star Trek Online, set a world record Valentine’s Day in London, for the most people dressed as Star Trek characters.  The event took place February 14 on the Millennium Bridge in London where 99 Star Trek fans dressed as various Star Trek characters.
Fans appeared as costumed Klingons, Cardassians, Mirror-Universe [...]

Star Trek Online PVP expansion a waste of developer resources?

Posted by Xerb Painhunter February 20, 2010

I have been seeing more and more posts on the Star Trek Online official forums where PVE (Player versus Environment) minded players are battling it out with PVP (Player versus Player) gamers over whether PVP content should even exist in STO. Recently I began reading a thread that as of right now has reached [...]

Apply the Polish to STO

Posted by Xavier Morgan February 13, 2010

Star Trek Online warped into an awesome beginning!  I love the game.  Cryptic delivered an admirable job, but I want to point a few things out that will make a great game even greater:
1) Can the Spam!!!!
Admittedly, I am not a popular fellow.   However, the totality of my mail experience with STO remains energy (aka [...]

Story Matters: Star Trek Online

Posted by Xavier Morgan February 2, 2010

The first real science fiction that I can remember is Star Trek. This tasty 1966 era Sci-Fi morsel whetted my appetite for all things Sci-Fi and thrust me headlong into a life long love affair with the genre.  According to the CBS official history:
“it was in the after-school market during the early 1970’s that the [...]

Star Trek Online Lifetime!

Posted by Xavier Morgan January 16, 2010

I bit the bullet — a $239.00 phaser flavored bullet!  “You have successfully purchased Star Trek Online Lifetime Subscription!”  OK … so I’ve told you I was burnt with Champions On-Line in the past, as I bought 3 lifetime accounts for me and my boys.  So why is this Cryptic product different from the [...]

Star Trek Online Closed Beta First Impressions

Posted by Xavier Morgan December 23, 2009

I purchased Champions Online with great hope that a new way of doing business and game design would liberate me from some of the same old boredom I experience from time to time in my MMORPG game play.  Champions Online took my attention for about 30 days, and it lost it.  On the surface one [...]
