To Beta or Not To Beta

dragonball

This week I bring you more machinations from the mind of Xerb.  In today’s beta listing, I introduce to you Dragon Ball Online, Dungeon Bandits, End of Nations, Dungeon Keeper Online, Ensemble Online, and Earth Rise.  Personally, from this list, Earth Rise is the one that warms my loins.  However, why don’t you take a peek at the list, check out the games, and let me know what you think. Keep watching the Beta Tracker as I continue to bring you information about more titles from my … [Read more...]

The Coming Beta Storm

blackprophecy

There’s been a void as of late for the Beta Tracker column and it’s entirely my fault.  I’ve been working on revamping how I do the articles so their less about my opinion of things to come and more about the facts as they relate to each particular game.  One of the things I am currently working on are a standard set of questions I can use for each article and have them answered by the developers.  However, that is easier said than done.  So, as I continue to work on that, I thought it … [Read more...]

FE Devs Respond to Severed Letterhead

baghand

Back in July I sent a letter to Fallen Earth developers declaring I had killed one of their staff and then sent their head with a note written on it.  I have included what I wrote on the decaying skull here: Dear Fallen Earth Department of Free Stuff; My name is Xerb Painhunter.  I’ve spent most of my career cutting down the thugs, GMs and developers you keep sending out after me and now I’ve taken it upon myself to begin hunting down members of your own faction.  I just wanted to … [Read more...]

Perpetuum: Player Beta Interview

Perpetuum_0001

I found out a friend of mine was selected to play the Beta for Perpetuum (http://www.perpetuum-online.com/) and decided to find a way to make that work for the Beta Tracker! He’s decided to take some time out of his day and allow me to interview him on his thoughts and experiences in the game so far and hopefully provide you with insight.  Just remember … the game is still in Beta so his opinions could change by the time the game is released.  (Note:  I am told that there is no NDA to … [Read more...]

My Return to DAoC Episode 2

daocwall

During my last article I introduced you to Dark Age of Camelot and gave you a bit of background information about how the game is set up and a bit about the fantastic tutorial in the game.  Today I want to introduce you to the Realm vs. Realm combat system and explain how it works and what kinds of things you can expect to see.  Keep in mind that all RVR in the game is voluntary so if PVP combat is not your cup of tea, you never actually have to see it or participate in it if you don’t want … [Read more...]

Xerb: Master Pistol Packin Post Apoc Killa

IMG_0349

Fallen Earth has been trying to encourage players and fans to participate in their Letters to the Devs Program, but its been having some trouble catching some speed.  This project was created as a way for players and fans of the game to have some fun with the game developers and ask any questions they might have, tell them what a great job they are doing or not doing (which ever you feel it may be) and to creatively interact with the Fallen Earth staff.  In fact, this is how Fallen Earth has … [Read more...]

My Return to DAoC Episode 1

19-daoc-screenshot-2

(This is an article I originally posted as part of the Guest Blogger Series at Bio Break where I had the opportunity to contribute as a guest author for Syp while he was away on vacation.  This is the first in a series of articles I intend to write as I track my return to Dark Age of Camelot.  Enjoy!) I don’t know about you, but I’ve been frustrated with MMO gaming for a while now and I’ve become convinced that the experiences I’ve had in games I’ve loved in the past are gone for … [Read more...]

Black Prophecy: The Free to Play EVE?

BP screen

Of course, Black Prophecy will have nothing on EVE, but could it be that it’s the EVE of Free to Play?  I want to take this opportunity to give you a glimpse of what will be available in this new up and coming science fiction game and I will let you decide if it's worthy enough to be placed in the same league as an EVE MMO. Black Prophecy is a Massively Multiplayer Online Space Shooter with role-play elements focusing on fast and exciting real-time combat space battles. Gamigo’s approach … [Read more...]

Mortal Online to be released June 9

Mortal Online Forest

So, I’ve been in this MMO rut these past few months as I’ve been trying to find a game that will keep my interest for more than 5 to 10 levels.  You see, the problem I have right now is that every MMO I try seems to be the same as the next.  What I mean is, though they all might have a pretty package and a different color bow, when I log in and start playing I find myself doing the same things over and over again.  “Kill 10 rats.”  “Run to this location and kill this guy or talk to … [Read more...]
